How to Instantly Get Out of a Rut

Hi Everyone! This is my first post of 2016, which would be something to clap about if it were January 1st. Well, at least it’s still January…

And being that it’s still January, aka resolution month, perhaps you are still happily enthusiastic about all the things you plan to accomplish this 2016. Maybe you wake up EXCITED to hit the gym, THRILLED to bust out those new lunch boxes and fill them with healthy homemade treats, SO PUMPED to finish cleaning out your junk drawer. Fine. Drawers. If so, nice work being happy with your life. It’s a good gig if you can get it.

Some of us, however, will hit a rut. Some of us sooner than others.

I don’t like being in a rut, which I’ll define as: anytime I become uninspired with my present situation and start noticing everything else around me that isn’t making me feel vibrant and alive. Being a creative type, a rut can take me down. Fast. And while I’m lying there, wollering around in the rut, the energy seems to compound and before I know it, this rut gets serious.

Here is what my own Akashic Records (another name for Universal Consciousness, the mind of God, the information realm) helped to me to see, and better understand about the situation. Remember my background is in Hollywood so this reads like a script;)

You have heard the saying, “Where the attention goes the energy flows.” Correct?


Oh yeah. I’d say that is exactly what’s going on when I’m in the rut, noticing the ruttiness, and things are just getting more and more rutty.

Okay, so here is my question. How do I change the things around me that I want to be different, without setting off this domino effect?


Well, it is true that one way to motivate change in life, is to feel the negative effects of the things that aren’t working for you. The danger is, once you begin to identify what isn’t working for you, you become a magnet to that feeling. And you will find yourself attracting more and more of what isn’t working for you. And when things go from bad to worse, people start to think, “What did I do to deserve this? I am cursed!”

The truth is, the Universe is just responding to your vibration. It’s how your dimension has been designed to work. It is the evidence and very definition of free will! You will always attract your vibrational match! And you get to choose the frequency that you vibrate on, based on how you FEEL.

Over the course of time, humans have reinforced a negative default setting in their wiring. This “switch” needs to be flipped. When humans learn to make this adjustment, here is how life will work: very little attention will get paid to what isn’t working and the majority of attention will get paid to what IS working. Once you look around your life and take inventory of all the things that ARE working for you, you will vibrate to the frequency of WHAT DOES WORK FOR YOU, and you will become a magnet to that. The lower vibrating things that aren’t working? Well, those fall away because their vibration doesn’t match. There is no need to fix them because they will fall away, or shift naturally. They need no attention at all with this method.


So, Oprah was right on the money with the gratitude journal idea, eh? Writing down five things you are thankful for everyday.


It’s a great start.  A training ground, so to speak. But the average human has between 50,000 and 70,000 thoughts per day, so it would be great to get those numbers up from 5….


Alright, all I have to do is redirect my focus? From what isn’t working, to EVERYTHING that IS working. And by doing this, the negative falls away?


Yep. Just start acknowledging all the things, big or small, that you want more of. Easy right?


Yes. yes yes yes yes yes. Thank you.

Alrighty, everyone. There you have it. The simple solution to shifting the rut, is to stop feeding the rut by giving it all your attention! Instead, feed the animal you want to grow, and stop feeding the monster…

“Hmm,” you say, “Can it really be that easy?” Well, you won’t know unless you give it a shot. Try it, play around with noticing and naming all the stuff around you that WORKS. See if more of it doesn’t show up in your reality. Play energy scientist with yourself! Remember, where the attention goes, the energy flows! Until next time, Namaste.
